People often ask me how I got into trading. They expect a clean origin story — university degree, internship at a bank, steady climb. The truth is messier and, I think, more honest.
This is the story of how a kid from Hong Kong ended up in Singapore, trading gold with nothing but a Fibonacci line and a philosophy borrowed from a 2,500-year-old Chinese text.
Hong Kong 2015: The Beginning
I was living in a tiny apartment in Hong Kong, working a job I did not care about, and staring at charts every night. I had discovered forex trading through a friend and I was hooked. The promise of financial freedom, the thrill of the charts, the idea that I could make it on my own — it consumed me.
I did what every beginner does: I loaded up on indicators. Dozens of them. I thought the more data I had, the better my decisions would be. I was wrong, but I would not figure that out for a while.
In late 2015, I blew up my account on NFP day. $3,000 to $1,200 in 20 minutes. That trade taught me more about risk than any book ever could. But it also broke something in me. I needed to find a better way.
Malaysia 2016: The Road
I left Hong Kong and started traveling. Malaysia was my first stop. I did not have a plan — I just knew I could not keep doing what I was doing.
In Malaysia, I met an older Chinese trader. He saw my charts covered in indicators and laughed. "The market speaks through structure," he told me. "Not oscillators. Structure."
That conversation changed everything. I went back to my hotel room and deleted every single indicator from my charts. I sat there looking at a naked candlestick chart, feeling terrified and free at the same time.
Dubai Bangkok 2018: The Testing Years
I spent the next two years traveling and testing. Dubai, Bangkok, Chiang Mai — I set up my laptop in hostels and coworking spaces, testing trading ideas with Python scripts. I would read the Tao Te Ching in the morning and stare at gold charts in the afternoon.
Most of my ideas failed. But the ones that survived months of backtesting and forward testing became the foundation of my system.
I learned that the market is not random — it moves in patterns of accumulation and distribution, of cause and effect. I called this system 因果有序 — Cause and Effect Order.
Singapore 2020: The Breakthrough
I moved to Singapore and focused entirely on gold. EU and US sessions, daily chart analysis, strict risk management. No distractions.
2020 was my first fully profitable year. Not because I found a magic strategy, but because I finally stopped looking for one. I had my system. I had my risk rules. I had my discipline. The only thing left was to execute.
Today
Ten years after that tiny Hong Kong apartment, I trade from Singapore with nothing but a daily chart, a Fibonacci line, and a philosophy rooted in Dao.
No indicators. No groups. No noise.
I built this site because I promised myself one thing: keep an honest record. Every review is based on a live account I funded with my own money. Every signal is a trade I am actually watching. Every lesson here was paid for in pips and patience.
The path from Hong Kong to Singapore was not a straight line. It was full of blown accounts, bad strategies, and expensive lessons. But it was mine. And I would not trade it for anything.
